Invitation to vulnerability: Go to your neighbor’s house
Our instinct to be independent and self-reliant can also leave us feeling isolated and lonely.
Seeking out our neighbors for support and relationship can be messy. It requires vulnerability. Yet living in community, sharing space with others, and valuing the common good is deeply coded in our survival DNA.
We are social beings who need each other to survive. The time and care it takes to build a strong and life-giving community is beneficial and elemental.
Striving to know each other does indeed bring happiness.
